China- Korea Climate Change and Forest Ecosystem Seminar held in our institute

   China- Korea Climate Change and Forest Ecosystem seminar was co-organized by Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Korean Forestry Institute on 28 May, 2009 in our institute. More than 20 scientists from Korean Forestry Institute and Soul University attended the seminar. The director of IAE, Dr Xingguo Han and Dr Dowon Lee gave speech on the opening ceremony. Nine scientists reported their work on the effect of global climate change on the health of forest ecosystem, carbon circulation, water circulation, plant population dynamics and bio-productivity.

   After the seminar, the director of our institute, Dr Xingguo Han and the director of Korean Forestry Institute Dowon Lee had a talk. Dr Han suggested that the seminar may be held periodically, once every year. Scientists other than China and Korea may be invited as well. The event may be combined some way with the Northeast Asia Forum. Dr Han underlined that attending international seminars provides opportunities for young scientists to enhance their ability in international exchange.

 The Korean scientists visited Bio-specimen collections, Laboratory and Arboretum.
