Meeting Held for Check and Acceptance of the 973 project : Structure, Functions and Their Regulation of China’ s Major Forest Plantations

The party secretary,  vice director of IAE, on behalf of the institute hosting the project, expressed welcome and thanks to the attended leaders and experts. Then, chaired by the leader of expert group, Prof FU Bojie and the chief scientist, Prof ZHU Jiaojun, ZHU and other 6 subject leading persons reported their expected goal, task implementation, research level and innovativeness, personnel training, cooperation and exchange, fund expenditure and future prospect. After reports hearing, the appraising experts considered the project has got good advancement to the general task and goal; the chief scientist well grasped the project in general, subject leaders and backbone members of research group worked actively. The experts also pointed out some problems in the project implementation. After hearing the reports and considering the Topic Summary Report, the expert group submitted Subject Acceptance Review, the chief scientist of the project revised and signed the Subject Acceptance Expert Group Opinion Form.

The experts considered that according to the request of national key basic research project, in the preparation of Project Summary Report, the research group should condense the innovation point in basic theory, surrounding the key word Ecosystem, resolve 3 major scientific issues,fulfill national needs, integrate bright point of every subject, condense characteristic and innovative conclusions.

After the meeting, the chief scientist, subject leaders and backbone researchers of the project discussed raised problems and suggestions by the experts. The chief scientist arranged work in the next step for the project acceptance procedure, requiring the workers fully consider and understand the opinions and suggestions gave by attended specialists, provide source material to better condense major achievements. The meeting has set a good foundation for the final evaluation of the project.
