On 1 October 2016, about 100 representatives attending the CERN Working Conference including the leaders of Bureau of Science and Technology for Development CAS, Directors of some CERN centers and stations and research workers inspected Qingyuan Forest Ecosystem Research Station IAE CAS.
The director of the station introduced the general situation of the station. Responsible persons of labs and sites introduced the scientific significance of plots deployed, the contents, methods and results of the experiments. The visitors inspected plots for C/N cycling of secondary forest ecosystem, bio-diversity monitoring sites, permanent plots for secondary forest, laser/radar remote sensing plot, rodent behavior enclosure experiment site, plot for Korean pine seed germination and seedling survival monitor, N15 tracing plots,Rana temporaria culture demonstration plot, Larix plantation vs secondary forest comparison plots.The visitors had warm discussions in the excursion, affirmed the plot deployment and periodic achievements.
Qinyuan Station possesses 1350 ha land that 93% is covered by forest with 80 natural secondary forest and 20 man-made forest, has deployed monitoring or experimental plots more than 30 categories and total area more than 100 ha. Besides, 30 ha plots, including larch plantation thinning experiment plots and larch plantation and secondary forest gaps monitoring plots have been deployed in the adjacent area that close to the station.
