The State Development and Reform Commission (SDRC) issued Reply to 2016 State-Locality Associated Engineering Research Center (Engineering Laboratory) (DRHT[2016]2203). This Reply approved the construction of State-Locality Associated Engineering Laboratory for Synergistic Bio- and Physical-Chemical Remediation of Soil Pollution. The proposed Lab is affiliated to IAE CAS. This is a new breakthrough in the platform construction for technology renovation in IAE and will enhance the core competitive power of IAE in the field of polluted soil remediation.

This lab will work on remediation and safe use of polluted sites and farmland according to the Action Plan for Prevention and Remediation of Polluted Soils and drive the environmental protection affairs of China to industrialization.

The lab will bring its bridge role between scientific research and industry into full play. IAE will organize the strongest production-study-research multiplex in Northeast China for soil remediation, combined with Liaoning Huafu Environmental Engineering Cooperation Limited, Liaoning Environmental Protection Group Limited and Shenyang Environmental Science Academy, forming a cooperative system functioning in research and development, new-tech integration and incubation, application and demonstration and talent exchange. This will efficiently promote the transformation of research achievements and popularization of soil remediation industry.

The State-Locality Associated Engineering Lab construction is a plan for construction of nationally basic power for independent innovation according to the strategic need of the country in economic and social development. This plan aims to the platform construction of basic innovation ability with regional features, to promote the organic cohesion between locality and national science-technology innovation system.  The construction of this lab is a mile stone for research platform construction and development of IAE.
