Sino-Germany-Bi-lateral seminar On Grassland Research
Authorized by National Natural Science Foundation of China, jointly hosted by the StateKeyLaboratory of Forest and Soil Ecology, Institute of Shenyang Applied Ecology, CAS and Universität Hohenheim, Germany, co-sponsored by the authority of Erguna City, Inner Mongolia, an international seminar on Resources of the Agro-pastoral Transition Zone of Inner Mongolia Grasslands: Challenges and Opportunities for Marginal Lands was held in Erguna City. The topics under discussion were 1,Dynamix and functions of grassland ecosystem; 2 ,Soil-plant-atmosphere material cycling; 3, Environment monitor and modeling; 4, Rational management of agriculture and stock farmming; 5, Land management strategy for arid zone. The seminar was aimed to promote the research inmaterial cycling and source-sink relations in the transitional zone of farmland and pasture, giving scientific prediction on the effects of changes in water cycling on vegetation, soil and soil-biome-atmosphere interactions., strengthen efficient management and rational use of pasture and africultural resources in the transitional zone, protect the regional ecosystem function, water-soil resources and biodiversity.
The seminar was open on 15 July. The openning seremony was conducted by Prof Hongshi He. The director of IAE , Porf Xingguo Han and Dr Marcus Giese fromUniversität Hohenheim, Germany, Vice director of Sino-German Center, NNSFC and the mayer of Erguna city Mr Ajinle gavespeech.The scholars inspected the research station under construction and the landscape of the transitional zone.
More than 60 scholars come from Germay,USA and Univercities and institutions of China presented. They exchanged informations and ideas through oral presentation, poster exibition and free discussion.
