In coordination with the implementation of the CAS’s pilot program Responses to Carbon Budget resulted from Climate Change and other problems, the 4th Sino-French Workshop-Ecosystem Carbon Budget and Regulation was held in Shenyang on 24-28,2011. This was the 4th
Workshop according to the Memorandum for Scientific Cooperation between Bureau of Science and Technology for Resources and Environment (BSTRE), CAS and French National Center for Scientific Research-Institute of Ecology and Environment(CNRS-INEE).The workshop was undertaken by the Institute of Applied Ecology, CAS. The subject is mechanism and regulation of carbon budget in terrestrial ecosystems, aiming to enhance the international influence and recognition of CAS’s carbon program.
Twenty seven specialists gave reports. More than 80 persons attended the workshop. The workshop was conducted by Prof Lanzhu JI, the party secretary of IAE, Prof Xingguo Han, the director of IAE, the section Chief in
BSTRE, CAS, the Deputy Consul, Consulate General of French in Shenyang, Petrick Andreo, Dr Peterick Nedllec,Bureau of CNRS in ChinaandDr CatherineBastien-Ventura, the director of Sino-French Program for Environment and Sustainable Development gave speeches to the workshop.
The attended scientists exchanged ideas in carbon fixation mechanism and regulation of farmland, grassland, wetland and forest, technology in carbon budget measurement and assessment.
After the workshop, the participants visited Qingyuan Forest Ecological Research Station, IAE,CAS, Liaoning Shenyang National Agricultural Experiment Station, national Key Laboretary of Forest and Soil.
