Scientists at our Institute focus on society's most difficult scientific problems, and seek to establish a network of outreach stretching far beyond the academic realm. They collaborate with partners in industry, academia, and government to develop market-ready solutions and to advance basic research that may potentially lead to revolutionary technologies. We have established long-term collaboration with many medium- to large-size companies, such as Shikefeng Chemical Engineering Company, LTD (SKF), Northeast Pharmaceutical Group Co. LTD, and Sino Fert. Examples include:
(1) Using our technology, SKF has built a “One Million Ton Compound Fertilizer Production Base” in Shandong Province.
(2) We founded the “Stable Fertilizer Industry Technology Union” in collaboration with 68 companies in China.
(3) In 2011 our authorized patent “High-efficiency low-release nitrogen fertilizer and manufacturing methods” was transferred to Sino Fert, the largest chemical fertilizer company in China.
By the end of 2012, farmers were using our slow-release fertilizers on over 600 million hectares of farmland, with an average increase in grain production of about 11.3%, and an increase in nitrogen use efficiency of 10.2%. About 86% of the slow-release fertilizers manufactured in China have incorporated our technology. In the past five years, the Institute has signed 120 contracts for technology transfer, totaling over 50 million yuan.
