Research Achievement of IAE Shown on Exhibition of Science and Technology Innovation Achievements for China’s Twelve Fife-year Plan

On 1 -7 June, 2016, an exhibition showing the major innovation achievements in Twelve Five Year Plan period was hold in Beijing. The project Key Technology in Water Quality Improvement and Ecological Remediation of Riverhead Area (Special Water Project) recommended by IAE was shown  as one of 7 modules multimedia sandbox-demo for watershed pollution control and management.

Special Water Project was one of the 16 major projects that established in Outline of National Medium and Long term Science and Technology Development Plan (2006-2020). These projects were aimed to solve the bottleneck science and technology problems in water pollution those restrict national economic and social development.

The 7 modules include Water Conservation, Pollution Control of Key Industries, Agricultural Non-Point Source Pollution Control, Low impact Development and Spongy City Construction, River Water Quality Remediation, Lake Eutrophication Control and Pollution Monitoring and Warning. IAE has been working on riverhead water conservation and water quality remediation.

During 12 Five Year Plan periodIAE undertook the project Key Technology Development and Demonstration for  Ecological Environment Remediation and Ecological Water system preservation . The project leader was Prof HE Xingyuan in 2012-2015. Major achievements were function recovery of riverhead in water conservation, control for agricultural non-point source pollution, industrial sewage reclamation, utilization and ecological remediation of tailings. ecological restoration of vegetation zones along river and water reservoir bank. In this exhibition, IAE participated the planning for sandbox demo for module construction of water conservation area showing ecological restoration of riverhead area, vegetation optimization for water conservation and ecological function restoration, low-efficiency watershed forest transformation and so on. The innovated technology will not only effectively protect the water ecological environment in riverhead area, reverse the deteriorative trend in ecological environment, but also offer lean water and better environment for people’s live and production activities in the middle and lower reaches, provide necessary environmental support to the revitalization of  Northeast old industrial base and provide model demonstration for riverhead water ecological conservation and utilization in other areas.
