At the 2020 working conference of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) held on January 16, 2020, ZHANG Yaping, Vice President of CAS, announced the winners of the 2019 CAS International Science and Technology Cooperation Award.

Researcher ZHU Jiaojun, senior engineer YU Lizhong and their colleagues from the (Shenyang) Institute of Applied Ecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences won the second prize of the 2019 National Science and Technology Progress Award for their project on developing "technology for forest conservation and efficient use of under-canopy resources in mountainous areas of eastern northeast China."

On December 20, 2019, the academic exchange meeting of two scientific research projects undertaken by scientists of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was held in Beijing.

On December 12, 2019, the sixth member meeting and the first meeting of the sixth council of the Liaoning Ecological Society (LES) were held at the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences. More than 100 people attended the meetings. The meetings were co-chaired by researcher YU Dapao and YAN Qiaoling from IAE.

On December 6, 2019, the first application of the heated 3-D Sonic Anemometer with smart electronics (CSAT3AH, Campbell Scientific, UT, USA) integrated into a closed-path eddy-covariance system (CPEC310, Campbell Scientific, UT, USA) started to operate at the Qingyuan Forest Ecosystem Observation and Research Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (referred to as Qingyuan Station).

Recently, the Liaoning Provincial Association of Science and Technology announced the first batch of 32 "Liaoning Academic Head Geese". ZHU Jiaojun, WU Zhijie and GUO Shuhai of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences were given the titles.

From 21 to 22 November 2019, the first National Conference on Ecosystem Observation and Research and the 30th Anniversary Symposium of the Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN) were held in Beijing. A team of nine people from the Qingyuan Forest Ecosystem Observation and Research Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as: the Qingyuan Station) attended the conference.

On 25 November 25, the 2019 High-level Forum on Modern Forest and Grass Industry Development, sponsored by the Chinese Forestry Society (CFS), was held in Beijing. At the forum, the list of winners of the 15th Forestry Science-Technology Award for Youth was announced. HAO Guangyou, researcher at the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences won the award.
