On December 12, 2019, the sixth member meeting and the first meeting of the sixth council of the Liaoning Ecological Society (LES) were held at the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences. More than 100 people attended the meetings. The meetings were co-chaired by researcher YU Dapao and YAN Qiaoling from IAE.

On December 6, 2019, the first application of the heated 3-D Sonic Anemometer with smart electronics (CSAT3AH, Campbell Scientific, UT, USA) integrated into a closed-path eddy-covariance system (CPEC310, Campbell Scientific, UT, USA) started to operate at the Qingyuan Forest Ecosystem Observation and Research Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (referred to as Qingyuan Station).

Recently, the Liaoning Provincial Association of Science and Technology announced the first batch of 32 "Liaoning Academic Head Geese". ZHU Jiaojun, WU Zhijie and GUO Shuhai of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences were given the titles.

From 21 to 22 November 2019, the first National Conference on Ecosystem Observation and Research and the 30th Anniversary Symposium of the Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN) were held in Beijing. A team of nine people from the Qingyuan Forest Ecosystem Observation and Research Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as: the Qingyuan Station) attended the conference.

On 25 November 25, the 2019 High-level Forum on Modern Forest and Grass Industry Development, sponsored by the Chinese Forestry Society (CFS), was held in Beijing. At the forum, the list of winners of the 15th Forestry Science-Technology Award for Youth was announced. HAO Guangyou, researcher at the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences won the award.

We are pleased to confirm that two research proposals submitted by the researchers of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has be approved to be funded by the CAS Scientific Instrument and Facility Development Program (SIFDP).

Between October 22 and 24, Professor WEI Xiaohua from the University of British Columbia and Dr. LIAO Yingchun from Nanchang Institute of Technology visited the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) and Qingyuan Forest Ecosystem Research Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has officially approved to set up its Green Fertilizer Engineering Laboratory (Laboratory Code: GC201907-03). As a part of the scientific & technological innovation framework of CAS, the establishment of this laboratory may accelerate the implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy, improve the ability of engineering R&D of fertilizers, promote technological breakthroughs and industrial transformation and upgrade, and promote local economic development.

BEIJING, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese researchers have developed a new method to estimate tree biomass in subtropical planted forests, according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Northeast China is one of the most species diverse areas at the same latitude on Earth, and also an important area in the Two Barriers and Three Belts' Ecological Security Strategic Planning. There are four of the eight vegetation zones of China, including two endemic zones: cold-temperate coniferous forest zone and temperate coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest zone. The alpine tundra of Changbai Mountain, one of only two alpine tundra in China, is located here.
