Liaoning Province has taken a significant step towards strengthening environmental protection with the establishment of its first judicial protection base for environmental resources. The base, inaugurated on June 3rd, is a collaborative effort between the Liaoning Provincial High People's Court (Liaoning High Court) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE).

A team of researchers from the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences, led by Dr. WANG Zhengwen, recently visited Mongolia to promote academic exchange and collaboration in ecological restoration. The visit, which took place from May 29 to June 2, 2024, included participation in the International Conference on Plant Science hosted by the Mongolian Academy of Sciences' Botanic Garden and Research Institute.

On May 22, 2024, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Vice President DING Chibiao visited the Qingyuan Forest Ecosystem National Field Scientific Observation and Research Station, also known as CAS Qingyuan Forest Station. During the visit, DING Chibiao and his delegation explored various aspects of the station’s work and development.

From May 16th to 23rd, 2024, an expert group organized by the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), conducted a field inspection of experimental demonstration bases in Heilongjiang Province for the project titled “Technology and Demonstration of Improving the Supply Capacity of Northeast Forest Ecosystem Products,” a key special initiative under the “Research on Restoration and Protection of Typical Fragile Ecosystems” of the “14th Five-Year Plan” National Key R&D Program.

Liaoning Province is taking a significant step forward in combating desertification with a key technological collaboration project. The annual progress meeting for the initiative, "Key Technology Research and Demonstration for Collaborative Control of Desertification at the Southern Edge of the Horqin Sandy Land," was held in Shenyang on May 11th.

A research team has taken a significant step towards restoring degraded grasslands in Northwest Liaoning Province. Led by the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the team conducted a field investigation in Beipiao City on May 8-9, exploring innovative approaches to replace traditional methods with multidisciplinary techniques.
