On July 11, 2023, the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Jiangsu New-Century Jiangnan Environmental Protection Company (NJEP) signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement in Nanjing. The signing ceremony was attended by LUO Jing, the chairman of NJEP, as well as its vice president, chief engineer, and dean of its research institute. ZHUO Junchen, the deputy director of IAE, and WU Zhijie, a research scientist at IAE, were also present.

From May 19th to 21st, 2023, the first Wild Vegetable Festival was held in Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province. The event was organized by project members of the National Key R&D Program "Northeast China's Forest Ecological Product Supply Capacity Improvement and Technical Demonstration".

On May 28, Journal of Ecology, an international journal sponsored by the British Ecological Society and published by Wiley Publisher, announced that 28 scientists from all over the world, including Dr. LV Xiaotao and Dr. LUO Wentao from the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), were invited to join the editorial board of the journal as Associate Editors.

On May 6, 2023, the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), organized a meeting to discuss the construction of the Changtu Agricultural Experimental Station and the development planning of the institute's Soil Ecology and Agro-ecological Engineering Center. Academician CHEN Wenfu, Academician ZHAO Chunjiang, Academician ZHANG Jiabao, Academician ZHOU Wei and other experts in the field of agriculture were invited to form the advisory expert team.

REN Xiaobo, director of the Science and Technology Promotion and Development Bureau of CAS, delivered a speech and said that the Research Report had been included in the list of the major achievements of CAS that will be released or published in 2023. He hoped that IAE would ensure the high-quality completion of the Research Report.

On April 25, 2023, Professor YAN Jun, head of the Key Laboratory of Pollution Ecology and Environmental Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Professor AN Jing and Associate Professor LI Xiuying visited the Changbaishan Forest Ecosystem National Field Scientific Observation and Research Station (hereinafter referred to as Changbaishan Station) in Jilin.

On April 20, the kick-off meeting of Key Special Project "Theoretical basis of targeted cultivation of plantation traits" of the National Key R&D Program on Forestry Germplasm Resources Cultivation and Quality Improvement was held at the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Shenyang and in video conferencing mode. A total of 10 sub-projects led by ten young scientists were jointly initiated.

On April 27, 2023, the Joint Innovation Team on Efficient Utilization of Soil Nutrient and Water and Green Fertilizer R&D of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the "Joint Team") held a seminar discussing the techniques to improve Brown Soil fertility in the Liaohe Plain. SUN Zhanxiang, president of Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and some experts from the Institute of Environmental Development of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Shenyang Agricultural University and IAE attended the seminar.

Dr. WANG Qingwei of the Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was officially invited to serve as a member of the UNEP Environmental Effects Assessment Panel？(EEAP) for a four-year term. He is also the first Chinese member of the "Terrestrial Ecosystem" work-group since EEAP's establishment in 1987.

On March 21, 2023, the Strategic Priority Research Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on Degraded Black Soil Fertility Restoration and Productivity Improvement (Shenyang Demonstration Zone Project) held a meeting discussing implementation plans in 2023.
