On April 3, 2023, the National Key R&D Program on the "Research and Development of an On-line System for Monitoring Atmospheric Heavy Metals Based on ICP-MS and Gas Diffusion Acquisition and Separation Technology," also a Sino-Japanese joint project led by the Institute of Applied Ecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IAE, CAS), held a phased achievement exchange meeting. The meeting was presided over by DING Fu, sub-project leader and Professor of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology.

On March 17, 2023, the "Anti-wind Erosion, Water-saving, High-Efficiency Agriculture Model Fuxin Demonstration Zone Project" of the Strategic Priority Research Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) held a meeting discussing its implementation plans in 2023. More than 20 people including the researchers working with the project and the invited experts for consulting (Prof. WU Zhijie, Prof.ZOU Hongtao, Prof.SUN Zhanxiang, Prof. YU Lihong, etc) attended the meeting, which was held offline at the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of CAS and in video conferencing mode.

On February 28, 2023, the National Key R&D Program led by the Institute of Applied Ecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IAE, CAS) on the Research and Development of On-line Monitoring of Atmospheric Heavy Metals with ICP-MS and Gas Diffusion Acquisition and Separation Technology held a project exchange meeting at IAE.

On March 21, 2023, the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) carried out the Party-building activity entitled "Promoting the Spirit of Scientists" and held the flag-awarding ceremony for "ZENG Zhaoshun Commando Team" of the Black Soil & Granary Science and Technology Program of CAS".

At the forum, YU Guirui, member of CAS, delivered a report entitled "The Dual Carbon Strategy to Cope with Global Climate Change and the Concept of Ecological Construction in a New Era", proposing making overall plans to promote the country's ecological restoration and green development, and generating new growth of ecological economy. CHEN Jingming, a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Sciences, made a report concerning New Information on Carbon Flux Data of China's forests. Professor WANG Gaofeng of Clemson University in the US gave a talk entitled "Climate-Smart Forestry: Natural Solutions to Climate Change", putting forward to using climate-smart forestry measures to improve carbon sink potential in forests. ZHU Jiaojun, a senior researcher of CAS, gave a talk on the current status of forest carbon sink in China, highlighting the approaches for doubling forest carbon sink.

On March 13, 2023, the Innovation Group on Plant Diversity Conservation and Sustainable Use of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences, held its kick-off meeting.

The symposium was sponsored by the (Nanjing) Institute of Soil Science (ISS) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and organized by the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of CAS. Academician Zhang Jiabao of ISS, leader of the Program, together with the project investigators of the Program and some researchers from IAE, a total of more than 30 people, attended the symposium. The symposium was chaired by Academician Zhang.

On January 19, 2022, the research team of the National Key R&D Program, the Research on Key Techniques and Small Equipment for Environmental Remediation of Frozen Soil with Freeze-thaw Cycles in villages and township communities organized a symposium to evaluate its research outcomes in Shenyang. The Key R&D Program is being jointly undertaken by the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chongqing University and the Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment of the Ministry of Water Resources. The symposium was held online and offline at IAE.

On February 4, 2023, YU Guoqing, director of the Institute of Sandy Land Management and Utilization of Liaoning Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Institute of Sandy Land), and the middle-level cadres of the Institute LV Linyou, Wu Dedong, Zhang Shuo, and Wang Guochen, visited the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for cooperative exchange.

Academician FU Bojie, head of the Academic Committee of the Key Lab, and Ren Xiaobo, director of the Department of Atmosphere, Oceanography and Ecological Environment of the Bureau of Science and Technology for Development, CAS, attended the meeting.
