On November 28, 2022, the winners of Jilin Provincial Science and Technology Awards were announced. HE Xingyuan, researcher from the Urban Forest Group of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), who led the project “Integrated Techniques and Demonstration for the Restoration of Diverse Ecosystems in the Upper Reaches of Liaohe River,” won the first award.

On November 12, the 2022 World Young Scientists Summit was held in Wenzhou. At its opening ceremony, the list of winners of the 17th China Youth Science and Technology Award was unveiled. Dr. Sun Tao won the award.

From September 29 to 30, 2022, Qingyuan Forest Ecosystem National Field Observation and Research Station (hereinafter referred to as "Qingyuan Station") organized Qingyuan Forest Forum, an event for celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the station.

On October 13, 2022, the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Liaoning Province (DARAL) held a singing ceremony and signed a framework cooperation agreement on black soil conservation and utilization at IAE.

From September 27 to 28, 2022, ZHANG Tao, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), visited Qingyuan Forest Ecosystem National Field Observation and Research Station (hereinafter referred to as "Qingyuan Station") and Changtu Demonstration Base of the CAS's Black Soil & Granary Initiative Shenyang Demonstration Zone Project for inspection and guidance.

From August 26 to 29, 2022, the 21st Ecology Conference of China was held in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. The theme of this conference was "New Mission of Ecological Science: Carbon Neutrality and Ecological Construction".

The News from the National Science and Technology Information System (https://service.most.gov.cn/) show that the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) obtains the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology to undertake a National Key R&D Program on Protection and Restoration of Typical Fragile Ecosystems.

The award, established in 2006, is the highest academic award that ESC can bestow upon an ecologist who have made great contributions to ecological theory and applications in China. The previous winners of the award were members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences SUN Ruyong, JIANG Youxu, ZHANG Xinshi, FANG Jingyun, FU Bojie and KANG Le, and the member of Chinese Academy of Engineering LI Wenhua. Mr. SHEN Shanmin, was the only winner of the award this year.
