On January 8, 2022, the leading group meeting of the "Black Soil Conservation and Utilization Technology Innovation Program" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), a Class A Strategic Priority Research Program of CAS, was held in Beijing.

On January 11, 2022, Liaoning Ecological Society (LES) organized its 2021 Annual Conference and a Symposium on the Role of Ecology in Achieving Carbon Emission Peaking and Carbon Neutrality. The conference was held at the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Shenyang in Offline and Live Streaming mode. Pan Jin, Head of the Society Division at LES, attended the meeting.

On December 31, the 2021 Academic Committee Meeting of the Liaoning Key Laboratory of Stable Isotope Technology (LKLSIT) was held in the lecture hall at Huishan campus of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences. The meeting was held in offline and live streaming mode, and was presided by Jing Hongshuang.

On December 23, 2021, the Pollution Ecology and Environmental Engineering Research Center of the Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences held a symposium to discuss the center's strategic development in the 14th Five-Year period. More than 30 people including director Zhu Jiaojun, deputy director Zhuo Junchen, heads of administrative divisions of the institute and researchers from different research groups of the center attended the symposium which was presided over by researcher Gong Zongqiang, deputy head of the environmental research center.

On December 6, 2021, the 29th annual conference of the International Scientific Centre of Fertilizers (Centre International des Engrais Chimiques, CIEC), themed as "Challenges of food production and fertilization in a VIRTUAL world," was held in Shenyang in offline and live streaming mode.

On the morning of December 2, 2021, Zhang Hongxiang, deputy director of the Science and Technology Promotion and Development Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), along with the department heads of the bureau, held a video meeting with administrative and research representatives of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), CAS.

On November 16, An Jinxiang, deputy director of the Liaoning Provincial Department of Science and Technology, visited the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and attended a symposium held at the institute. Ma Yuehong, deputy dean of the Shenyang Branch of the CAS, Zhu Jiaojun, director of IAE, Zhuo Junchen, deputy director of IAE, and some IAE researchers attended the symposium. The symposium was presided over by Wang Xugao, head of Science and Technology Division of IAE.

On October 11, 2021, an expert group composed of Agronomy experts from Shenyang Agricultural University, Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Institute of Applied Ecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), came to the Shenyang Demonstration Zone of the "Black Soil & Granary" Initiative of CAS, and evaluated the implementation effects of the "Anti-wind Erosion, Water-saving,

From October 25th to 28th, the 2021 Advanced Seminar on Key Technologies for Black Soil Conservation was held in Changtu County, Liaoning Province. The seminar was organized by the Personnel Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), hosted by the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), CAS, and co-hosted by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Liaoning Province and the People's Government of Changtu County.

October is golden autumn, the rice is ripe, and it is a good harvest season. On October 16, 2021, in the Shenbei (northern Shenyang) Demonstration Zone of the Strategic Priority Research Program (the Degraded Black Soil Fertility Restoration and Productivity Improvement) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the "Black Soil & Granary" Science and Technology Initiative of CAS, researchers are busy measuring crop yields and collecting plant and soil samples.
