2021 UNEP Environmental Impact Assessment Report, Co-written by IAE Scientist Wang Qingwei, is Officially ReleasedAtmospheric ozone layer depletion is a global environmental problem facing mankind. The widening atmospheric ozone holes cause more ultraviolet radiation-B (UV-B) to reach the Earth's surface, leading to adverse effects on biosphere and human health. Each year, the Ozone Environmental Impact Assessment Committee of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) invites scientists of different countries in the fields of photobiology and photochemistry to give an up-to-date report on environmental impacts of ozone layer depletion and UV-radiation and on the evaluation of the effectiveness of global efforts in ozone layer protection, so as to provide theoretical support for different countries to formulate sustainable development policies.Mar 22, 2022

Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Helps Protect Black Soil, "the Giant Panda" in Arable Land Soil CategoriesSince the 1950s the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) successively took the lead in some major natural resources surveys in northeast China, including the Sanjiang Plain Wasteland Survey, the Sino-Soviet Natural Resources Comprehensive Survey in Heilongjiang River Watershed Areas, and the Soil Resource Inventory in northeast China.
