On March 17, 2022, a seminar for discussing implementation plans of the project "Degraded Black Soil Fertility Restoration and Productivity Improvement in Shenyang Demonstration Zone" was held at the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The project is a subproject of a Strategic Priority Research Program of CAS.

The 2021 Annual Work Summary Meeting of the National Ecological Science Data Center and the Launch Meeting of the Ecological Science Data Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was recently held at the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research of the CAS.

In early March 2022, members of the "Dryland Soil Conservation and Productivity Improvement Model" research team of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), started their project work in Changtu. The higher-grade project, "Degraded Black Soil Fertility Restoration and Productivity Improvement in Shenyang Demonstration Zone," is a Strategic Priority Research Program of CAS which involved research on fermentation, storage and efficient utilization of livestock and poultry waste (LPW), soil fertility improvement and safe use of organic manure, and assessment of LPW land carrying capacity, etc.

Atmospheric ozone layer depletion is a global environmental problem facing mankind. The widening atmospheric ozone holes cause more ultraviolet radiation-B (UV-B) to reach the Earth's surface, leading to adverse effects on biosphere and human health. Each year, the Ozone Environmental Impact Assessment Committee of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) invites scientists of different countries in the fields of photobiology and photochemistry to give an up-to-date report on environmental impacts of ozone layer depletion and UV-radiation and on the evaluation of the effectiveness of global efforts in ozone layer protection, so as to provide theoretical support for different countries to formulate sustainable development policies.

On March 11, 2022, Dai Yulin, vice chairman of the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, visited the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and talked to the administrative leaders of IAE during a meeting which was presided over by Fang Yunting, deputy director of IAE.

The Party Day event promoted the cooperative relationship between the agricultural team and its cooperative members, and provided a strong organizational guarantee for the Black Soil & Granary scientific and technological project.

From February 28 to March 1, 2022, in cold, windy weather, Prof. Zhang Lili, team leader of the Anti-wind Erosion, Water-saving High-Efficiency Agriculture Model R&D team, together with some other researchers and officials of local governments, made an inspection tour to Fuxin Agricultural Demonstration Zone to inspect the implementation of black soil conservation tillage and land preparation for spring ploughing.

On January 20, 2022, the 2022 first symposium of the "Qingyuan Ker Towers" Forest Ecology and Management Forum was held at the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shenyang in Offline and Live Streaming mode.

The "14th Five-Year Plan for Ecological Economy Development of Liaoning Province" (hereinafter referred to as "the Plan"), compiled chiefly by the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was recently unveiled by the Liaoning Provincial People's Government.

On February 11, 2022, Yu Guoqing, director and party secretary of the Institute of Sandy Land Management and Utilization of Liaoning Province (ISL), together with Zhang Xueli (deputy director of ISL), Lv Linyou (head of the Pasture Research and Development Center of ISL) and Wu Dedong (deputy head of the Academic Committee of ISL), visited the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The two sides exchanged ideas on field research station construction, scientific research cooperation, and personnel training.
