On August 13, 2010, Invited by Professor Jian Yang, the leader of Interference Ecology research group, a professor from University of Nevada, Dr Peter J. Weisberg Gave a seminar entitled as Pinus- juniperus woodland dynamics in the western USA: a 'natural experiment' for studying ecotonal shifts in response to global change.

Dr Peter J. Weisberg served in Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, University of Nevada. His group has been working on statistics, space analysis and dynamic modeling. Their current work is focusing on 1) Landscape change in Eastern Sierras and Mojave Desert, including forest expansion, species invading and the influence of change in fire management on landscape. 2) Dynamic ecology on river side and water source zone of desert, aiming on the influence of changes in management flow on invaded species and vegetation. 3) Developing ecological models to assist management in forest, grassland and riversides and predict possible changes in the future.

His report is descriptive in the impact of vegetation in northwest US on the global changes. After the seminar, Dr Weisberg had a warm discussion with the audients on the related subjects and achieved nice effect. The audients and graduate students expressed desires to exchange more with Dr Weisberg.
