The direcrorProf. Kraus Butterbach-Bahl and other 4 scientists from Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), German came to our institute, visited the new and old buildings, and made scientific expedition to the research stations of our institute in Shenyang and Qingyuan. Prof. Klaus Butterbach-Bahl  and Prof. Wolfgang Junkermann gave seminars introducing the development in research on nitrogen cycling and the effect of aerosol on precipitation. The two sides discussed the joint proposal to NNSFC on the joint proposal for construction of China-German joint Laboratory. The proposed found was 300 million RNB in 3 years.

The director of our institute, Prof. Xingguo Han started cooperated research with Prof. Klaus Butterbach-Bahl in the effect of grazing on the matter flux of Inner Mongolia Pasture. The program was financed with 6 million Euros and produced a hundred papers including some published in Nature. Based on the previous success, the proposed laboratory will be focused on the application research of carbon, nitrogen and water cycling. The lab will found cooperative research program, bilateral seminar forum for young scientists.
