On 11 September, 2017, the Fifth Session of IAE Youth Scholar Salon invited Dr Henrik Hartmann from German Max PlanckInstitute for Bio-geo-chemistry to give presentation.
His report discussed the mechanisms of carbon allocation of photosynthetic products and tree death. He introduced how to use isotopes, including stable and radioactive Carbon isotopes, to study the strategy for allocation and turnover of non-structural carbon hydrates under drought stress. Then, he introduced the new development of research in the debate on the mechanisms of tree decline: Failure in hydraulic conductivity or carbon hungry?
Prof FANG Yunting, Prof WANG Xugao, Prof HAO Guangyou and Prof LV Xiaotao and graduate students attended the seminar and jointed related discussions.
