On 17 January 2018, the seminar was held in IAE. Managing Director ZHANG Wei, Deputy Director General LIU Bing, Section Chief XIE Shumin and GAO Sen from Three-North Shelterbelts Construction Bureau of State Forestry Administration, vice director(executive) ZHU Jiaojun, vice director FANG Yunting and Section chief ZHUO Junchen and back-borne member of the research group presented.

The seminar was conducted by ZHUO Junchen. First, Prof FANG Yunting expressed thanks to the guests from State Forest Administration and introduced the aim and significance of the seminar. Then, ZHANG Wei introduced the general situation of the construction of Three-North Shelter Belts and then request to Science and Technology. Prof ZHU Jiaojun introduced the situation of IAE, the development of Shelterbelt Science and its relations to construction of Three-North Shelterbelt system and the 40 years assessment on the achievement. He also introduced the strategic idea for the construction and development of the Three-North Shelterbelt system. Dr SONG Lining reported the development of research project for the management of Three-North Shelterbelts. Dr ZHENG Xiao reported the scheme of background survey, dynamic monitor and high-resolution photography for the Tree-North Shelterbelts. Prof YAN Qiaoling reported the predicted international seminar on shelter belts and supposed letter submission to Nature. 

The seminar discussed the detail of the assessment on the 40-year construction, research cooperation and the use of high resolution photography of Three-North Shelter belts.

The seminar, relaying on the project of Shelterbelt Science included in the project of featured discipline construction of IAE, played active role in pushing Write the Achievement of Shelterbelt Research on the Field of Homeland, strengthen the cooperation between IAE and Three North Shelterbelts Construction Bureau and firmly set the base for implement of assessment on the Forty Years (1978-2018) Construction of Three-North Shelterbelts Construction Summary.
