The Institute of Applied Ecology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IAE, CAS) and Campbell Scientific Inc. (CSI) reached cooperation intention to co-establish Ker Joint Laboratory for monitoring forest fluxes of trace gases and isotope elements (referred to as ‘Ker Joint Lab’ hereinafter).
On May 15, 2018, the launching ceremony of the Ker Joint Lab was held at Qingyuan Forest Ecosystem Research Station. ZHU Jiaojun, the director of IAE, and ZHOU Xinhua, the research scientist of CSI, on behalf of the two parties singed the cooperation agreement. The ceremony was presided over by YU Lizhong, the deputy director of Qingyuan Station.
Researchers (Dr. YAN Qiaoling, Dr. ZHENG Ning, Dr. ZHU Xianjin, Dr. KANG Ronghua, et al.) from the two parties attended the signing ceremony and gave a seminar on the research of forest trace gases and isotopes.
At the seminar, Prof. ZHU Jiaojun first introduced the basic situation and history of the Qingyuan Station. Dr. GAO Tian, associate researcher, presented the basic information of the flux towers at the Qingyuan Station and put forward the future research assumptions. Prof. ZHOU Xinhua detailed the design, parameters and functions of the flux towers at the Qingyuan Station.
Besides the establishment of Ker Joint Lab, the cooperation agreement also covers the personnel training, data management and sharing, scientific paper writing and so on.
