On June 7th, a delegation of more than 70 scientists from the Youth Innovation Promotion Association (YIPA) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences visited the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE) and the Herbarium of Northeast China (HNC). The Party Secretary JIN Changjie, and the deputy director of the Personnel Division YE Hanfeng at the IAE hosted the delegation. The welcome meeting was chaired by Prof. XI Fengming.
JIN first extended a warm welcome on behalf of the Institute to the visiting delegation. He then introduced the history and development as well as the scientific areas and achievements of the Institute. He highly affirmed the visit organized by the YIPA. He hoped that young scientists would not forget the hard times of the older generation of scientists. He encouraged young scientists to move forward to make new contributions to the country.
The delegation subsequently visited the HNC. Prof. YUAN Haisheng, the head of HNC, gave a detailed introduction of the herbarium. Several staff members of the HNC led the delegation visiting the fungal herbarium, moss specimen room, insect specimen room and the vascular plant herbarium.
The delegation members stated that they gained a better understanding of the research culture of IAE and deepened their impressions of the customs and traditions of the Northeast China. The delegation members also expressed their willingness to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with scientists of IAE.
