Deputy mayor of Hulunbeier Visits Erguna Station

On the morning of July 5th, HAO Guijuan, deputy mayor of Hulunbeier (Hulunbuir) City, accompanied by HAO Jianxi, deputy director of Hulunbuir Institute of Ecological Industry and Technology and JIA Zhikui, deputy mayor of Erguna, visited Erguna Forest-Steppe Ecotone Research Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Erguna Station).

WANG Zhengwen, head of Erguna Station, led the visitors over the entire station and gave them introductions to history, facilities (e.g., laboratory, dormitory, specimen room, lecture hall, canteen) and researches of the station. WANG Zhengwen said that besides the routine ecological monitoring, the station had got fruitful achievements on sandification control, degraded grassland restoration, wetland park planning, proposal application, and science popularization. WANG Zhengwen also talked about his future plans to bring in technologies such as wild edible mushrooms cultivation, under-canopy resource development, Chinese herbal medicine cultivation and ecological paradigm for grass and animal husbandry development, so as to make more contributions to the economic development and ecological preservation of Hulunbeier. During the course of the field trip, WANG Zhengwen introduced the visitors to the main experimental platforms, research contents and their scientific significance, as well as their phased output.

HAO Guijuan fully affirmed the research directions and work progress of Erguna Station, inquired in detail about the difficulties in running the research station, and praised the station as a landmark institution for ecological science and technology which is highly important for the ecological protection and industry development of Erguna and Hulunbeier. She urged the municipal leaders of Erguna City, who accompanied the visit, to vigorously support and actively cooperate with the station to make full use of this scientific and technological advantage to promote the sustainable and coordinated development of the local economy, society and ecology. She also suggested that Erguna Station closely cooperate with other institutions, colleges and field stations located in Hulunbeier to form a strong alliance to better serve the country's major scientific research tasks and objectives, more actively provide advice for the economic, ecological and social development of Hulunbeier, and strive to do a good job in science and technology services in response to practical problems in the region.
