On July 10, 2020, the 13th Five-Year Fertilizer Scientific Research and Innovation Achievement Release and Cooperation Conference of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Stable Fertilizer Industrial Technology Alliance 2020 Annual Meeting was held in Yantai, Shandong. More than 30 entrepreneurs from Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Yunnan, Chongqing and other provinces and municipality cities attended the meeting. The conference was organized by the Fertilizer Engineering Technology Center of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Seven experts from the Fertilizer Engineering Technology Center of IAE gave talks in turn. Prof. SHI Yuanliang summarized the latest scientific research achievements made by the Center during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. Senior engineer WANG Lingli introduced the application of novel stable fertilizers on corn, wheat and cotton crops planting on coastal saline-alkali soil. ZHANG Lei analyzed the results of a ten-year field trial of wheat in the stable fertilizer demonstration network, and made suggestions for developing novel fertilizers specially manufactured for wheat crops. Associate researcher LI Jie introduced the research progress of the novel synergistic diammonium phosphate. Engineer WEI Zhanbo proposed an innovative work plan in terms of the principle of inhibitors which can be used to guide the 'reduced top-dressing or no top-dressing fertilization for rice crops'. Engineer NIE Hongguang introduced a series of fertilizer additives that developed using the technology of poly amino acid synergist. Prof. LU Zongyun explained the industrialization issues of these novel fertilizers, including product design, demonstration and promotion, and marketing strategy formulation, etc.

Experts participated in the conference communicated face-to-face with all entrepreneurs. Leaders and representatives from fertilizer production companies enthusiastically exchanged views on product homogeneity, insufficient R&D capabilities, and operation difficulties faced by their companies. At the meeting, ten companies reached cooperation intentions with IAE on the development of original phosphate fertilizer, novel urea, new rice fertilizer, new wheat fertilizer, novel liquid fertilizer, and innovative long-lasting, large granular fertilizer.
