On December 3, Jiang Xiaoping, division head of the Asia and Africa Division of International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Norihiro Toki (土岐典広) and Feng Wei from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) China Office, and Fu Ye, deputy division head of the International Cooperation Division of the Liaoning Provincial Department of Science and Technology, visited the institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences to conduct academic exchanges on a key project of the National Key R&D Program, which is set up to enhance "International Cooperation in Science and Technology Innovation between Governments." Zhuo Junchen, deputy director of IAE, Wang Xugao and Liu Li, head and deputy head of science and technology division of IAE, Prof. Chen Xin, the project chief, Prof. Ding Fu from Shenyang University of Chemical Technology, and team members of the project had a cordial exchange with the visitors during a symposium, which was hosted by Liu Li.  

Zhuo Junchen on behalf of IAE welcomed all visitors for their guidance and assistance. Wang Xugao gave a detailed account of IAE's achievements in discipline development, project application, international cooperation in recent years and IAE's planning for future development. Chen Xin, the project chief and senior researcher of IAE, gave a report in detail on the research contents, tasks and implementation plans of the National Key Research & Development Program, the "research and development of atmospheric heavy metal online monitoring system based on gaseous diffusion gathering & separation technology and ICP-MS." Afterwards, the two sides held a heated discussion on specific issues of the project.  

Jiang Xiaoping spoke highly of IAE's achievements in scientific research, fully affirmed the significance and prospects of conducting research on atmospheric heavy metal online monitoring system, and gave guiding opinions and suggestions on the application for the same type of project in the future.  

Mr. Norihiro Toki fully affirmed the cooperation research between IAE and JICA, and put forward constructive opinions on the future work of this project. 

This visit deepened the exchanges of IAE with JICA China Office and International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and will promote IAE's development in international cooperative research.
