From December 5 to 7, 2020, the Launch Ceremony of Weifang Institute of Modern Agriculture and Ecological Environment and the 10th Chinese Ecologist Club Forum was held in Weifang. The event was hosted by the Chinese Ecologist Club, co-organized by the Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Weifang Institute of Modern Agriculture and Ecological Environment, and Shouguang Facility Agriculture Center. More than 200 people including Ma Yuehong, deputy president of the Shenyang Branch of CAS, Liu Shuliang, Vice Chairman of Weifang CPPCC, Gao Yuguo, Director of Weifang Science and Technology Bureau, Liu Panying, Secretary of the Party Committee of Kuiwen District, Li Ming, director of the Shandong Comprehensive Technology Transformation Center of the Shenyang Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fang Yunting and Zhuo Junchen, deputy directors of IAE, Prof. Wan Shiqiang,  founder of the Ecologist Club Forum and professor of Hebei University, as well as experts, professors, young scholars and entrepreneur representatives from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Xiamen University, Sun Yat-sen University, Nanjing University, and other well-known universities and CAS institutes attended the launch ceremony and discussed in depth the topics in the research of ecology, agriculture and environment. 

The launch ceremony was presided over by Jia Yongfeng, Dean of Weifang Institute of Modern Agriculture and Ecological Environment. At the beginning of the ceremony, Fang Yunting delivered a welcome speech on behalf of IAE. Afterwards, Ma Yuehong, Wan Shiqiang, Liu Panying, and Liu Shuliang delivered speeches respectively, wishing the forum a complete success. They raised high expectations for the development of Weifang Institute of Modern Agriculture and Ecological Environment, hoping that the Ecologist Club Forum further accelerate the growth of young ecologists, deepen and expand their academic vision, continuously improve their innovation abilities, promote the development of Chinese ecology, and enhance its international influence. 

At the launch ceremony, IAE and Ethiopian representatives signed a cooperation agreement on establishing "China-Ethiopia Agricultural and Environmental Research and Development Center," with the aim of promoting the development of agriculture and the environment in both countries, and making new contributions to the "Belt and Road" Initiative as well as China-Africa Green Industry Cooperative Development. In addition, Weifang Institute of Modern Agriculture and Ecological Environment signed six S&T cooperation agreements with enterprises in Weifang, including the Industry Service Platform for Innovative Achievement Transfer and Transformation and the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Environmental Microbial Agent Pilot Batch Platform, etc.
