Liaoning Key Laboratory of Stable Isotope Technology Holds 2021 Academic Committee Meeting
On December 31, the 2021 Academic Committee Meeting of the Liaoning Key Laboratory of Stable Isotope Technology (LKLSIT) was held in the lecture hall at Huishan campus of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences. The meeting was held in offline and live streaming mode, and was presided by Jing Hongshuang.
Nearly 60 people attended the meeting, including Fang Yunting, director of LKLSIT, Zhang Gang, S&T inspector from the Science and Technology Department of Liaoning Province, Prof. Lin Guanghui, chairman of the academic committee, other members of LKLSIT and its academic committee, and some graduate students from IAE.
At the beginning, Fang Yunting gave an introduction to LKLSIT by telling about the history, function, staffing, work progress and key research findings of the laboratory.
Afterward Zhang Gang delivered a speech. He spoke highly of the laboratory's scientific and technological innovation in the past year, and its contribution to S&T development of Liaoning Province. He also put forward hopes for further construction and future development of the laboratory.
All members of the academic committee conducted in-depth discussions concerning technical development, research contents, academic communication and long-term development of the laboratory, and put forward guiding opinions and suggestions.
Prof. Lin Guanghui suggested that the research at LKLSIT should focus on key scientific questions about the application of stable isotope technology, and that the researchers should use innovative thinking to produce major achievements and promote the development of related scientific fields and disciplines.
By studying these suggestions, the members of the key laboratory made clear that what they should do next. This laid a solid foundation for smooth completion of the work plan for the next year.
In addition, during the academic exchange session, Prof. Wang Jingkuan, dean of the Land and Environment School of Shenyang Agricultural University and member of LKLSIT academic committee, gave a talk titled "Isotope Tracer Technology and Carbon and Nitrogen Transformation in Corn Straw and Black Soil," detailing the application of stable isotope technology in soil organic matter turnover research.
After the meeting, all the participants paid a visit to the key laboratory and had a close look at its instruments.
