Key Laboratory of Forest Ecology and Management of CAS Held 2022 Academic Committee Meeting
On January 11, 2023, the 2022 Annual Academic Committee Meeting of the Key Laboratory of Forest Ecology and Management of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Key Lab) was held online and offline at the Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
Academician FU Bojie, head of the Academic Committee of the Key Lab, and Ren Xiaobo, director of the Department of Atmosphere, Oceanography and Ecological Environment of the Bureau of Science and Technology for Development, CAS, attended the meeting.
Jin Changjie and Hao Xin, Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of CAS, Zhuo Junchen, Deputy Director of CAS, Fang Yunting, Deputy Director of CAS, Professor Wang Xugao, Deputy Director of the Key Lab and Head of Science and Technology Division of CAS, Professor Hao Guangyou, Deputy Director of the Key Lab, and more than 60 researchers and graduate students of the Key Lab attended the meeting.
ZHU Jiaojun, Director of CAS, delivered an opening speech. Academician FU presided over the academic committee meeting. Wang Xugao gave a report about the Key Lab's basic information, work updates in 2022, and work priorities in 2023, spotlighting the plan to establish the National Key Laboratory of Forest Ecology and Forestry Engineering. After that, Gao Tian, Zheng Xiao, Wang Chao and Yu Shuai, the young scientists of the Key Lab, gave talks, focusing on the following topics: "forest carbon pool and forest carbon sink", "the construction of the Ecological Shelterbelts in North China in the past ten years (2012-2022)", "the turnover of forest soil organic matter driven by microbes" and "Integrated Techniques and Demonstration for the Restoration of Diverse Ecosystems in the upper reaches of the Liaohe River".
Ren Xiaobo and the members of the academic committee praised the achievements made by the Key Lab, and put forward good suggestions for the establishment of a National-level Key Laboratory.
Finally, FU Bojie made a concluding speech on behalf of the academic committee. He said that members of the Key Lab must focus on key scientific issues and meet the major national needs in order to better develop the Key Lab; to establish a national key laboratory, members of the Key Lab must actively communicate with and made reports to leading officials, continue to work on the reform plan of the key laboratory, highlight the characteristics of the Key Lab, strengthen talent team building, and enhance the comprehensive competitiveness of the Key Lab.
This academic committee meeting guided the future development of the laboratory.
