On April 3, 2023, the National Key R&D Program on the "Research and Development of an On-line System for Monitoring Atmospheric Heavy Metals Based on ICP-MS and Gas Diffusion Acquisition and Separation Technology," also a Sino-Japanese joint project led by the Institute of Applied Ecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IAE, CAS), held a phased achievement exchange meeting. The meeting was presided over by DING Fu, sub-project leader and Professor of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology.

The general manager of Shanghai Panhe Scientific Instrument Co., Ltd delivered a welcome speech. Professor WANG Yanhong, Project Office Coordinator, gave an outline concerning the implementation and management of the project, the project background, collaboration units, and sub-project arrangement. Dr. CHAI Meiyun, Technical Division Head of Panhe Instrument, on behalf of the Chinese side, gave a detailed introduction to the phased-outcome such as the development of a system for collecting and pre-treating atmospheric heavy metal samples, the establishment of multi-scenario online monitoring schemes, the development of data monitoring module, the establishment of database, and the development of sampling vehicles.

Katsu Kawabata, Chairman of the IAS Inc. (International Analytical Solutions), introduced the latest research progress of the gas replacement device, a key component of the project's inventions. Afterwards, the two sides had a lively discussion on the problems encountered during the implementation of the project, the follow-up tasks, the key technical issues to be solved, as well as key project indicators to be achieved on time.

This meeting greatly promoted the implementation of the collaborative project, and laid a solid foundation for the smooth acceptance of this project.
