The Agricultural Product Safety and Environmental Quality Testing Center of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences, has passed a national evaluation for soil testing laboratories, according to an announcement by the Office of the Leading Group for the Third National Soil Census of the State Council.

The evaluation tested the laboratories’ ability to measure cation exchange capacity, available phosphorus, total nitrogen, and total cadmium in soil samples. The laboratories had to meet the standards for all four indicators, or they would fail the evaluation. The Center of IAE had prepared experimental plans and emergency plans before the evaluation, which took place from May 16th to 23rd. The researchers at the center completed the experiments and submitted the results on time.

The successful passing of this evaluation confirmed the technical capability of the center in the field of soil testing. The Center will use its professional advantages and work with other departments to support the Third Nationwide Soil Census, the protection of black soil in Northeast China, and national food security.
