From May 16th to 23rd, 2024, an expert group organized by the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), conducted a field inspection of experimental demonstration bases in Heilongjiang Province for the project titled “Technology and Demonstration of Improving the Supply Capacity of Northeast Forest Ecosystem Products,” a key special initiative under the “Research on Restoration and Protection of Typical Fragile Ecosystems” of the “14th Five-Year Plan” National Key R&D Program.

The expert group, comprising academicians (CHEN Yiyu, KANG Shaozhong, YU Guirui) and researchers (Feng Renguo, Yang Ping, Deng Wei, and Wang Xugao), assessed key technologies aimed at enhancing the multi-functionality of cold-temperate natural secondary forests and mongolian pine plantations, blueberry industrial processing cooperatives, ecological protection of Daxing’anling primitive forests, as well as the ecological and artificial restoration of post-fire secondary forests. During the inspection, they engaged in in-depth exchanges with project teams, cooperative enterprises, and local governments. The project’s experimental demonstration results, innovative achievements, and development ideas received high praise from the expert group.

Strong support for the inspection came from the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Daxing’anling Administrative Commission, the Daxing’anling Forestry Group Corporation, and local authorities. Chief Scientist HE Xingyuan emphasized the need to refine technical points, enhance scientific content, and address existing shortcomings. The project aims to build upon the continuity and progress of the “13th Five-Year Plan” key R&D program, with a focus on mid-term inspection and further promotion.
