Young Scientists Propel Northeast Revitalization at Innovation Contest
In a significant stride towards the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China, the 5th “Technology Boosts Northeast Revitalization Cup” China Youth Science and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was successfully held in Shenyang, Liaoning, on June 29, 2024. Organized by the Youth Innovation Promotion Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Shenyang Branch, and supported by various local government bodies.
At the opening ceremony, Academician ZHU Jiaojun, Director of the CAS Institute of Applied Ecology, emphasized the importance of technological innovation and youth talent development, echoing President XI Jinping’s call for deeper integration of technological and industrial innovation. ZHU highlighted the critical role of young scientists in addressing national challenges and encouraged them to excel in their fields.
The competition attracted over 30 young scientists from six CAS institutes, including the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry and the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics. Participants showcased projects spanning ecology, materials, energy, and medicine. The event featured a competitive showcase session, with the top prize awarded to the “Pioneering 3D Printing of Core Molds” project from the CAS Institute of Metal Research.
The contest aims to provide a platform for visionary young scientists to exchange ideas and accelerate technological innovation and industrial integration in Northeast China, fostering a robust "innovation ecosystem" and contributing to the region’s socio-economic development.
