Ecological Processes Journal Strengthens Standing in Global Ecology Rankings

The international journal Ecological Processes has continued to rise in global academic influence, according to newly released bibliometric reports. The latest 2025 Journal Citation Reports issued by Clarivate Analytics on June 17 show that the journal achieved an impact factor of 4.8, ranking 33rd among 205 ecology journals worldwide and placing it firmly in the top Q1 category.

Further recognition came from the Scopus database, which in June 2026 reported a 2025 CiteScore of 7.3 for the journal, positioning it within the top 12 percent of ecology publications globally and also in the Q1 tier. These indicators collectively reflect the journal’s growing visibility and academic influence in the field of ecological research.

Established in 2012, Ecological Processes is an open-access journal administered by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and edited under the leadership of Chief Editors ZHU Jiakun and CHEN Jiquan. The journal focuses on fundamental processes underlying ecosystem structure and function, with particular emphasis on cross-scale interactions that link local ecological mechanisms to broader-scale patterns. Its editorial scope highlights how ecological systems develop, operate and interact across spatial and temporal scales. The journal also serves as a platform for advancing interdisciplinary integration between ecology and related fields, aiming to support research that informs global environmental governance and contributes to the development of a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
